Overview of Programs

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has a long-standing tradition in training clinical geneticists, cytogeneticists and molecular geneticists. The Department of Pediatrics is a partner in three genetic training programs:

  • Medical Genetics Residency
    The Department of Genetics offers a two-year Medical Genetics Residency program to prepare physicians for Board Certification in Medical Genetics.
  • Clinical Molecular Genetics Fellowship
    The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine offers a two-year Clinical Molecular Genetics Fellowship program, which is designed to prepare candidates for Board Certification in Clinical Molecular Genetics.
  • Genetic Counseling Master's Level Degree
    The UNC Division of Pediatric Genetics and Metabolism is affiliated with the MS Genetic Counseling Program at UNC Greensboro (UNCG) and provides Clinical Internships for students enrolled in this program.
