Teaching Center

For Doctors Who Teach

The Teaching Center of the Department of Pediatrics at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill was formed with the goal of supporting and improving the quality of doctors’ teaching. There are 3 major areas of activity of the UNC teaching center. We are advisory to the Educational Oversight Committee of the Department of Pediatrics; we offer consultations for individual doctors or for academic departments at UNC and elsewhere. We also offer an eight session course "Becoming an Effective Medical Educator" to fellows and faculty at UNC.

On this website, you will find information about each session in this course and a downloadable and printable monograph entitled "How to Teach Effectively". Whether you teach in a private office or in an academic facility, the information contained on this website should help prepare you to be a better teacher.
