| About the
Division
The Division of Immunology and
Infectious Disease assists in the diagnosis and management of children
with known or suspected immune deficiencies, rheumatologic (related to
muscles, tendons or joints) or autoimmune (immune response of the body
against substance normally present in the body) diseases, and allergic
diseases (allergies, asthma, skin allergy and sinusitis), as well as a
broad range of infections and evaluation of fever of unknown origin (FUO).
The division is arranged into the Allergy, Immunology & Rheumatology
(AIR) Section and the Pediatric Infectious Diseases (ID) Section. The
AIR Section includes the Allergy & Asthma Program, the Rheumatology
Program, and Inpatient Immunology (Allergy, Immunology & Rheumatology or
AIR) Consultation Service. The Pediatric Infectious Disease Section
includes the ID and FUO clinic, the Pediatric HIV Program and the
Inpatient ID Consultation Service. Outpatient evaluations for
immunological and host defense problems are coordinated among all
division faculty through the Host Defense & Immunology Program,
generally in the ID/FUO Clinic and the Allergy and Asthma Clinic. Within
the division are specialists who are board certified in Allergy and
Immunology, Clinical & Laboratory Immunology, Pediatric Infectious
Diseases, and Pediatric Rheumatology. |
